    Expert Review

Vizio is known for their budget-friendly TVs, managing to combine quality and performance at prices often lower than anybody else. Their P2ui-B series TVs offer 4K resolution for an affordable price, making this new wave of technology accessible to more people. While a few flaws make the image quality inferior to those leading in this area (such as the Samsung UNHU8550 and Sony XBR0X900B), you’d be hard pressed to find a 4K TV this good, at this price anywhere else.

Full-array local dimming allows for excellent uniformity, although also makes the panel thicker. Black levels in all sizes are deep (except the 55 inch which uses an IPS panel) and the contrast is also very good as well. Color accuracy is satisfactory although highlights can tend to appear a bit bright. While there were initially more issues with the P2ui-B series, software updates have mostly fixed all of them.

Features and aesthetic design are somewhat light with the P2ui-B, a sacrifice made to keep the price low while including 4K technology. For example, the included remote control isn’t the best out there but serves its purpose. Vizio isn’t offering 3D on any of their TVs this year, continuing with the trend amongst manufacturers to phase or drop this technology completely. Connectivity is excellent with five 4K-compatible HDMI ports included as part of the setup.

If you’re looking for a 4K TV on a budget, you won’t find a better value than this. Despite being more basic all-around than more expensive 4K TVs, the simple menu system is easy enough to use, and most users who understand the deal they’re getting will be content. While there are the issues with the 55 inch model’s IPS panel, the Vizio P2ui-B series in any size is your best option currently available for affordable 4K.Rating: 4/5
